Alex is a director, writer, producer, editor and actor. After graduating from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, Alex made his professional acting debut starring in the national tour of Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Lost in Yonkers. In 1997 he began work at the acclaimed Barrow Group theatre company, where he met his wife, Hillary Baack, whom he directed in her acclaimed one-woman show, Birth Story.
Driven by a life-long passion for cinema, Alex formed Force Studios to create movies for all audiences, and produced and directed the independent features, Hollywood Musical! and You & Me (Audience Award, 2018 Cinequest Film Festival). Alex is currently developing a slate of new projects, including Helen, Belittled, Portraits of Genie, The Schmilsson Movie, The Little Things and Story of My Life.
Producer, Writer, Director
Hillary is an actress, writer, director and producer. After graduating from Wake Forest University’s theatre program, Hillary studied and worked at The Barrow Group, where she wrote and performed a sold-out run of her one-woman show, Birth Story. Other roles include The Vagina Monologues, Deaf West’s Flowers for Algernon and a shared Ovation award for their Broadway-bound production of Spring Awakening.
Hillary co-starred in Hollywood Musical!, directed by her husband, Alexander Baack, with whom she also wrote the screenplay for You & Me, which she stars in and which won the Audience Award at the 2018 Cinequest Film Festival.
She also co-starred in Zal Batmanglij’s The East (Fox Searchlight), with Brit Marling, Ellen Page and Alexander Skarsgård and appears in Darius Marder’s upcoming Sound of Metal, with Riz Ahmed.
Hillary makes her feature writing and directing debut in 2020 with Helen, in which she also stars as Helen Keller.
Lily is an independent Film/TV producer committed to producing authentic, original stories with emerging talent. She is the lead producer on Hillary’s Baack’s feature directorial debut, Helen, about the life of Helen Keller and her work includes Esme, My Love (2018), Otis (2018, SXSW and HBO’s Urban World), Little Disappointments (2018, YoFiFest). Lily has worked with networks. including A&E, ABC, Funny or Die and HBO. Her commercials and experiential productions include brands like Amazon, Adidas, Come Relief and Samsung.
Amy began her career working in film production and story development, including Universal’s Virus, The Grave and Merchant-Ivory’s A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries. Amy has worked with diverse populations in a variety of business and cultural sectors, including museums, universities and art schools, non-profits and performing arts organizations.
D.D. is a Juno and Emmy-award winning composer and pianist. Named one of the greatest jazz musicians of his generation by the NY Times, D.D. has composed the original scores and songs for all of Force Studios’ movies, including Hollywood Musical! and You & Me. In addition to 12 acclaimed jazz albums for major and indie labels and electrifying live performances around the world, D.D. is a frequent performer and arranger for Questlove and The Roots, including several performances with them on The Tonight Show, Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall.
Resident Marketing Designer
Dustin is one of the great graphic artists in movies today, having created one-sheet posters and other marketing material for many A-list titles in the film, television, music and gaming industries. He has a high degree of knowledge in print, specialty outdoor, packaging, branding, website and app art direction and viral marketing needs. Among many other projects, Dustin created the posters for V for Vendetta, Resident Evil, 8 Mile, A Prairie Home Companion and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice and Phantom Thread. His latest work is the beautiful poster for Force Studios’ You & Me.
