Taught by actor and director, Alexander Baack, this weekly class for actors and directors (and writers) focuses on scene work and the application of practical, effective techniques designed to encourage spontaneity and realism in performance for stage and film. Based on tools developed for the last 25 years at New York’s acclaimed The Barrow Group, the approach is to find as simple and direct a way as possible to encourage spontaneous, real behavior in interacting with other actors to tell a story.
This is not a lecture. You’ll be up on your feet working any material you choose and learning from other actors’ work as well. It’s also fun (remember, it’s a play, not a work). Actors, writers and directors alike can benefit greatly from developing their own bag of tricks to help them get where they want to go as artists and storytellers.
Registration is monthly and sign up must be no later than one week before the 1st Monday of each month.
Free class audit for all new students.
We will be working in a new space TBA.
